Why Do We Pray?
Where or how do we feel that we are in control of our lives? WHY? Things in our lives don’t seem to come together, why?
How much praying or preparation have we accomplished? And does our heart show the time that we have spent in preparation (prayer)?
Did you know that pray appears 317 times in the Bible, or that prayed appears 114 times or that prayer appears 247 times, or that prayed appears 7 times and that praying appears 20 times in the Bible according to the Strong’s Concordance?
So if we add up all the times that a form of prayer appears in the Bible which 761 times. And if we prayed one day for every time a form of prayer appears in the Bible we will have prayed 2 years and 1 month.
Now why do we pray? Ultimately we are not in control, we need to seek the Lord’s guidance, since we don’t know where to go we must seek guidance and assistance.
We want healing, prosperity and this list could go on forever, there are so many areas that we need the Lord to assist us to make it in this life.
So if we are going to the Lord in prayer daily, how could we ever think that we are in control?
What’s the opposite of control? Surrender, submit, giving in to the Lord’s will for us, letting go, obedience and receiving grace.
What would be the first sign that you’re letting go of the controls? What does prayer actually bring? Prayer brings peace of mind ( the fleeting and wondering thoughts stop), you come into prosperity (health spiritually and physically), wisdom and salvation.
There are people in this world who are adrenaline junkies, because they are hooked on the feeling that raw fear brings. If you want to have the feeling of raw fear, stop praying, stand back and watch as your life falls apart.
We can’t have lives that are filled with procrastination, we need a life that’s filled with pro-activity and godly production, WE NEED TO PRAY.
